Registry Backup - Introduction

Registry Backup and Restore is a handy utility for making backups of Registry keys and their sub keys. While it is not a Registry Editor it is an easy to use utility that restores keys that have been modified by programs or web sites. This can be a life saver in certain situations such as restoring your Home and Search page after a sleaze site has taken them over or if a newly installed program changes your favorite settings. Always, you need to make a backup of your registry before making any important changes. This will allow you to go back to your original settings if you need to.

Starting WinUtilities Registry Backup and Restore

Select the Registry Tools category in the WinUtilities main panel, then click WinUtilities Registry Backup and Restore to start the program.

Backuping your Windows Registry

Registry Backup and Restore module provides the easy-to-use wizard and allow you to create your Registry backup with a few mouse clicks. follow the below steps: 

  1. Run Registry Backup and Restore module
  2. Click Back up Registry button under main window
  3. Select the sections you want to back up
  4. Click Next button to start backuping your Registry
  5. Finish
Restoring your Windows Registry
 
Follow the below steps to restore Windows Registry:
  1. Run Registry Backup and Restore module
  2. Click Restore Registry button under main window
  3. Select a previous date from list
  4. Click Next button to start restoring your Registry
  5. Finish
Moving backup file to other location
 
If you select to backup your Windows Registry, Registry Backup and Restore module will create a backup file under WinUtilities data folder, the default location is: <WinUtilities Installation Folder>\Data\ToolRegBackup\<Date String>, simply copy this file to other location.
